Can I surcharge phone orders and invoices?

Yes, you can. Surcharging is allowed on card-not-present transactions. Plus, when you use the AND gateway, you can be setup to automatically include appropriate surcharges.

Yes, you are definitely allowed to surcharge your phone orders and invoices. In fact, the AND gateway has built-in surcharging features, so you can setup default surcharge fees for all transactions you process. Once this is setup properly, all receipts will automatically reflect any price adjustments, with no extra work on your part. Learn about surcharging.

You may also “key in” transactions to a standalone terminal or POS with a surcharge included. So no matter how you take your phone/keyed orders, you are welcome to surcharge or charge convenience fees.

To utilize this zero-cost processing method, you are required to disclose any surcharging to your customers prior to the sale taking place. Read more about signage here – but in an online/keyed-entry environment, that means that you must inform customers on your website, terms/conditions, and in any pre-prepared invoices prior to billing. In addition, all receipts must reflect the surcharge/convenience fee as well.
