Do I need an external PinPad?

No, it's not a requirement. But, they can help speed up the line and flow of your checkout experience!

It's totally up to you if you want to use an "external" PinPad. These are devices that are customer-facing, so that you don't have to share the credit card terminal for PIN-debit entry.

Every terminal that AND sells has a built-in PinPad, so you can accept PIN numbers directly on the device. For many merchants, this is perfect - no need to purchase additional hardware, and it fits in nicely with their counter-top setup.

However, this is impractical for some merchant types. If you accept a high-volume of PIN-debit sales, or if your terminal isn't in a place your customers can easily access, you'll almost certainly want to have a dedicated device to connect with your terminal that's permanently customer-facing. This will allow you to avoid spinning the terminal towards your customer during every transaction. It'll also give your customer an easy way to pay via NFC / Apple Pay, too.

Almost every terminal at AND can be connected with an external PinPad, and they typically cost about $200 each. Let us know your needs, and we'll be happy to discuss the best solutions with you.
