Business, Corporate / Purchasing, & Government cards
Each card has a different rate structure and requirements, but all are eligible for discounts.
Business
Cards
Business cards are very commonly held by small and mid-sized business owners. Without accepting level 2 data, rates are typically in the 2.40% - 2.95% range. These fall to 2.05% - 2.20% when using the AND gateway. Business card interchange rates are based on both the merchant business type, as well as the cardholder's annual spend-level. The more your customers use their business cards (at any business), the higher the interchange rates that accepting merchants pay.
Purchasing / Corporate
These cards are typically issued by larger organizations, and their employees will have restricted spending categories - for example, employees may be authorized to make payments at merchants that are classified as "B2B" only. The card simply wouldn't work at a retailer/restaurant. These cards are also eligible for heavy rate reductions, down to 1.75% (MasterCard) and 1.90% (Visa) on smaller sales. Transactions that get bigger ($5k - $8k) can get rates down to 1.45%.
Government Cards
Issued to towns, cities, and other governmental entities - these cards are eligible for the lowest possible interchange rates. When accepting level 3 data (by using a gateway like AND) rates can get all the way down to 1.20% (Visa). This is due to the fact that payments from governments are very low risk, from a chargeback perspective. Merchants who commonly accept government cards include courts, bail bonds, postal services, toll-roads, transportation, and other government-related merchants.
