How does the customer see the fee?
This will depend on the specific solution you utilize. Customers will either see a "surcharge" line item on their receipt, or a "discount" is displayed when paying by cash.
There are specific rules regarding surcharging/cash discounting, and how the customer is informed of the surcharge or discount. If you are a brick and mortar store you’ll need to have any surcharges clearly posted to see on your point of sale device and upon entry to your establishment. If you’re operating in an online environment, you must have the notice placed somewhere on the checkout page as well as the terms & conditions page. Additionally, all receipts are required to show the surcharge as its own line-item, clearly visible to the customer. Similarly, if you’re offering a cash-discount, then you need to clearly post the discount that cash-paying customers receive, as well as the “adjustment” that non-cash-paying customers pay!
