What card types are eligible for savings?
All business and corporate credit and debit cards are eligible. Only Visa and MasterCard participate in Level 2/3 programs.
Visa and MasterCard are the only two card associations that offer B2B programs - so any AMEX or Discover cards you receive from business or government clients won't be eligible for additional discounts. But, the Visa/MC discounts can get hefty. See savings examples here. Almost all non-consumer cards are eligible for at least some discounts, and certain cards are eligible for some serious rate reductions.
Typically, Government and Purchasing cards have the most favorable interchange rates in a level 3 environment. In particular, transactions that are large (above $5k - $8k) are eligible for "large ticket" rates, which can reduce rates even further, down to 1.20%. Corporate cards are also eligible for rates that get as low as 1.75%, even in a small-ticket transaction.
Business cards are only eligible for level 2 rate discounts - but even those can reduce rates by 20% or more. Common business cards can have rates reduce down to 2.05% - when normally they're at 2.60% or more. See the interchange tables here, to see the full potential reductions.
Remember, when using the AND gateway, all transactions you process will automatically qualify for the lowest possible rates. No extra work required.
